But a pennant victory eluded him until 1946 when a new set of stars -- Ted Williams, Tex Hughson, Bobby Doerr, Dave Ferriss, Johnny Pesky, and Dom DiMaggio -- emerged fromthe Red Sox farm system to regain glory for Boston.
